Belgian FA Reveals The Number Of Weeks Marouane Fellaini Will Miss Through Injury

Marouane Fellaini has been ruled out for at least two weeks after suffering a knee ligament sprain whilst on international duty.

Fellaini was forced off in the 29th minute of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, and the latest scans suggest that the 29-year-old could be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks.

This means that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will be without his ace midfielder when the Red Devils travel to Liverpool for their high profile Premier League clash on Saturday.

As per the official twitter page of Belgian Red Devils, Fellaini won’t be back for a ‘couple of weeks,’ and as a result, will also miss Belgium’s clash against Cyprus. The tweet read: “@Fellaini is out for a couple of weeks & #BELCYP. Scan ➡ left knee injury (MCL sprain). Get well soon Marouane! #RoadtoRussia”

Though the midfielder may have avoided any major cruciate ligament damage, his sprained Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) will give Mourinho and the Red Devils’ fans a major headache.

The trip to Anfield has been a very crucial fixture for the club, and with Fellaini, who came in as a replacement for an injured Paul Pogba, sure to be left out from the squad which will travel to Merseyside, the Old Trafford outfit may find itself in a tight spot against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The Belgian has been one of United’s top performers so far this campaign, having already netted 4 goals in 6 appearances. However, Mourinho still has a fairly good replacement in the form of Ander Herrera, but losing Fellaini, who was in the form of his life, is a setback that would be very difficult to cope up with, even if it is just for a couple of weeks.
