Juan Mata Rejects A Big-Money Offer From The Far East

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has reportedly repudiated a move to China.
The representatives from Far East approached the Spaniard with, needless to say, a hefty price. But according to Mirror, the talented playmaker has no intention of leaving the Red Devils, as he intends to have a one-year contract extension in lieu of accepting the Chinese offer.
The La Fábrica graduate joined the Red Devils in 2014 for €46 million, a club-record fee then, signing a four-year contract. He is well known for his decorated career as a midfielder for both Chelsea and Spain.
Since his move to Old Trafford, the Spanish international has made 155 appearances, and netted 37 goals for the Mancunian outfit. Further, he has also managed to nail down the right-wing position under Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese’s arrival in the summer of 2016.
Not long ago, the United No.8 happened to talk about his best position and where he would ideally like to play for the Red Devils.
“Let’s say offensive midfielder,” he had revealed. “But, obviously, I am playing more now on the right wing, when I try to come inside and create space for my teammates.

“It’s this kind of freedom that allows me to be in touch with the ball, that’s where I feel comfortable. I consider myself as this kind of attacking midfielder, trying to find the gaps between the opposition midfielders and defenders and produce what the team needs between the lines.”
The 29-year-old rejected a huge hike on his current £165,000-a-week salary to contentedly play as an offensive midfielder at Old Trafford.
However, his current contract meets its deadline at the end of the season, but United appear set to offer a one-year extension to Mata as well as his fellow countryman, Ander Herrera.
