Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has demanded a weighty rise in his salary if the Red Devils plan on holding onto him after his current contract expires, as per reports.

The Portuguese tactician earns around £15m a year, but reportedly wants an improved salary package and incentives that manifest the success he has brought to the club. Mourinho has almost reached the midpoint of his contract, and speculation has already started to flow in that he may exit after he completes his three years at Old Trafford.

Though multiple reports suggest that the 54-year-old is looking to switch to France after the completion of his tenure, The Guardian believes that the Special One ‘has no wish to leave for PSG or anywhere else’.

However, the same report (via Calciomercato) also indicates that Mourinho is ‘unhappy at the fact that the Red Devils have yet to even open talks with him over a new deal’.

United have been phenomenal under the Special One’s management, and won their first European trophy last season post Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign. The Red Devils have been off to a flying start this year as well, as they are just two points behind league leaders Man City in the Premier League.

But the point that talks of a new contract haven’t even taken the first step seems to have made Mourinho ‘angry’. It was further claimed that latest reports suggesting the Portuguese’s exasperation with executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, due to the latter’s inability to bring in major targets has made the situation worse.
