James Wilson has revealed that he is open to the possibility of a loan move away from the club once the January transfer window comes around.

The Englishman has been on the road to making a complete recovery from a knee-ligament injury that cut short his loan spell at Derby County last season.

He has been a part of the U-23 squad managed by Ricky Sbragia this season, and has been in impressive form of late. However, he is still taking things slow while he works hard to get his career back on track.

With first team opportunities unlikely to come his way this season, he has spoken to the club about a loan move away from the club in the winter window. A host of clubs showed interest in securing his signature during the summer transfer window, so it shouldn’t be too difficult an obstacle for him to find a temporary club.

Wilson admits that he is very happy to be back amongst the rest of the squad, and is looking to catch the eye of his managers by playing more games.

“I’m doing well at the moment,” he told MUTV. “It’s really nice to be back outside with the lads and just be around everyone. They’ve welcomed me back into the changing room really well and I’m enjoying my time, trying to get back fit and doing my best for the team.

“It’s just about building your way back up to it by getting game time. That’s the only time you can impress when managers and different people are coming to see you. They don’t see you in training and that’s the difference between training and games.

“The recovery is a process and I think I’ve dealt with it quite well mentally,” he explained. “If you’re not training for 90 minutes, which you can’t always do, I think it’s really hard to get that unique fitness you need for a full game. It’s just a matter of keeping playing games and staying as fit as I can.

“I’ve listened to the advice of everyone around me and they have been brilliant throughout my process. I can’t really describe it but it’s like you really want to get out there. Yet you get little setbacks and how you deal with them is really important. The help from the people around the place is a massive part of that and they have definitely done brilliantly for me.”

Speaking about the possibility of securing a temporary move away from the club in the New Year, he said: “I don’t see why not. Obviously, the summer transfer window has gone and there was a lot of interest. But the staff all came to an agreement that I would stay until January to build on what I’ve already worked for.

“So I think it’s certainly a possibility. We’ll just have to talk and have a few conversations with the manager and certain people around here. I’m not ruling it out but we’ll come to an agreement over what needs to be done.”
