Arsenal Finally Accept They Will Have To Sell Mesut Ozil In January

Arsenal are set to lose two of their big players, and the club is looking to sell them in January itself, in order to avoid the risk of losing them for free next summer.

One of these players is German midfielder Mesut Ozil. The former Real Madrid player has refused all offers of a new deal from the London club, and is adamant on holding them for a bumper contract that looks unlikely from the Premier League biggies.

One club that is said to be interested in Ozil is Manchester United, and the Gunners are reportedly looking to sell Mesut Ozil in January itself, so as to prevent him from joining Jose Mourinho’s side for free next summer.

According to Mail Online‘s Sami Mokbel, Arsenal want to “eliminate the prospect” of the reigning Europa League champions snapping up the German.

Ozil is yet to find a new suitor that matches his demands on the wage front, and he has failed to attract none of the top clubs. However, Wenger’s side is said to be confident of finding a buyer in the winter transfer window itself.

Another report in The Mirror reported on Thursday that Ozil is anticipating a move to Old Trafford at the end of the season. He has worked with Jose during his time at Real, and is keen to once again play under him. There is also a feeling that United would match his wage demands, and getting him for free would do them a world of good.

United already have several players that feature in Ozil’s position, either as a No. 10 or as a winger, but getting a player of his pedigree wouldn’t harm their side. The German has a lot of experience in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see whether a big club comes calling for him in January.
