Here’s Why Jose Mourinho Is Furious With Ander Herrera

Supporters and players alike were confounded by the dispassionate showing of Manchester United against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, which saw them undergo their first Premier League defeat of the season. The final scoreline read 2-1 courtesy of goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre, which secured the home side’s three points, with Marcus Rashford’s lone goal proving futile for the Red Devils.
Following the defeat, Jose Mourinho appeared furious with one player of his in particular, whose remarks after the match might not have sat well with the United boss.
Mourinho exclaimed: “Herrera is in the interviews saying the attitude and desire was poor, my God. They should all go to the press conference.”

The outburst in question was a result of the Spaniard blaming the side’s lackluster performance for the thrashing. The midfielder isn’t entirely wrong, as the otherwise self-assured outfit certainly appeared to be all over the place, with Romelu Lukaku barely getting a whiff of the ball and Victor Lindelof’s substitute performance proving true the charges deeming him to be a summer flop.
In fact, Mourinho himself agreed with the verdict, when he stated: “I don’t even remember a friendly match when our attitude was so poor. When you play against a team that normally you are better than, you have to match their aggression and passion. We didn’t do that. It cannot happen again.”
Mourinho continued: “They played with everything I like, desire, motivation, sacrifice, and we didn’t. So the team that deserved to win won. If I was a Manchester United fan I would be disappointed. You can lose games because the opponent has more quality than you, but not lack of attitude.”
The defeat ensured that Man City took their lead to a total of five points above their rivals on the top of the table, and has brought United in the vicinity of Tottenham and Chelsea in contention for the second place. Incidentally, the two London clubs also happen to be their next opponents in the Premier League.
