Major Injury Update On Phil Jones After Huddersfield Scare

Manchester United fans were subjected to a pathetic showing by their team on Saturday. In addition to watching their side lose 2-1 to Huddersfield Town, another worry also accompanied the traveling squad.

Even before the decisive first-half goals were netted, the Red Devils were forced to make a substitution in the 20th minute itself, as Phil Jones was added to the quickly lengthening list of injuries.

The 25-year-old stayed on the turf after going in for a strong sliding tackle. An empathetic slap to his knee was a clear indication of the frustration that the Englishman faced, having just seen a fruitful spell of return from injury.

However, as per M.E.N Sports, supporters of the Premier League giants might not have to worry too much. Jones was seen walking to the team bus at the end of the match, and it was observed that the player wasn’t in any kind of discomfort.

This is despite him pointing to his hip after being subbed off, giving Mourinho a headache in addition to dropping three points. Their first defeat in the league also ensured that Man City took their lead atop the table to a daunting five points.

Further, if Jones isn’t in fact injured, and can make a quick recovery, then the side will have a renewed hope in the fixtures to follow. The defender has been in spectacular form this season, shrugging aside all shortcomings of the earlier years. Plus, seeing how Lindelof was poor in his place, Jones is certainly the ideal choice.

However, the rest of United’s injury concerns will still be a prominent headache, with Paul Pogba out till early 2018, and the likes of Marcos Rojo, Michael Carrick, and Marouane Fellaini still injured. Zlatan Ibrahimović too, despite showing signs of fitness, doesn’t have a specific return date just yet.

In terms of relief, Eric Bailly is expected to make a return, and feature against Tottenham in their next domestic clash.
