Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been unfortunately out of action for some months now due to the ligament tear he suffered in a Europa League clash against Anderlecht. He went under the knife under the supervision of top orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Freddie Fu in Pittsburgh in May.

Manchester United have been without the star striker since April, but signs are that he is nearing full-fitness, after he shared a photo on social media on Tuesday which will give a million fans hope that he could finally make a comeback to the team before the end of the year.

Posing alongside Eric Bailly and David De Gea in front of the lockers at the AON Training Complex, Ibra looked in good shape, as he closes in on the competitive action once again. In the caption of the photo, he wrote ‘now he can’t run away’ in a witty reference to a video from August, in which Bailly tries to kick him before scampering out of the room.

Ibrahimovic has not been seen at the training ground since penning a new contract in the summer, but he is now on the cusp of a comeback.

“He’s so healthy, so strong. Biologically, bone morphology, everything, is absolutely very healthy,” Doctor Fu told the China Morning Post. Ibra looks to be proving his doctor right. After a summer of solo training and rehab work, he joined former United striker Andrew Cole in the gym.

United manager Jose Mourinho is more than impressed with the dedication and fitness improvement of the forward and expects him to be back anytime soon. The boss recently told the media: “Let’s let him take his time and be back in the right moment. Do I think he will be back in 2017? Yes I do, but it’s just a feeling.”
