What Ashley Young Said To Dele Alli During The Drop Ball Incident

Manchester United put up a satisfactory performance in the nail-biting fixture against Tottenham after being heavily criticised for their adoption of high defence tactics against big clubs, and secured the three points with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho had previously expressed his rage posterior to the defeat against Huddersfield, and had challenged the players to win against Spurs at all costs. Accordingly, Anthony Martial came to their rescue, as the talented forward aided the Red Devils with a late strike.

Nevertheless, one of the highlighted incidents of the opening 45 minutes took place following a drop-ball, when Ashley Young and Dele Alli clashed, with a separation from teammates and the referee being an absolute necessity.

Although the pair cooled down after an exchange of words with match official John Moss, Young was seen yelling a few words to his counterpart in the clash as they retreated. The concord seems to be that the 32-year-old said: “When you win the Prem [Premier League], let me know.”

Gary Neville stated post-match that he had no idea what Young was up to. The instrumental figure assumed that the England international was trying to get the 21-year-old to headbutt him and, consequently, get himself sent off. And considering the Spurs attacking midfielder’s nature, it seems like an accurate presumption.

Neville asserted: “Ashley Young knew exactly what he was doing – he’s trying to get Dele Alli to throw his head at his face. His heart would have been saying: ‘I want to break your nose.'”

Nonetheless, the bizarre incident was brushed off without many consequences thanks to the match official, leaving the flow of the game undisturbed.
