Mata Scares United Fans With Blog Post About Gomes
Juan Mata has caused some serious worry among the club’s fans with his latest blog post.
Mata is a fervent writer and posts updates about his life every Monday on his personal blog, but his latest post this week has gained a lot more attention than usual, after he described Angel Gomes as a ‘former teammate’.
Gomes is one of the current rising stars at United’s academy and is very highly rated by fans, coaches and everyone who has watched him play. There is a strong sense of hope that he will remain at Old Trafford and fulfill the potential and promise that he has shown in his fledgling career.

Last season, he was awarded with the club’s honorary Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award, and many hope that he will continue his meteoric rise and make it into the first-team at United eventually.
However, with obvious talent comes obvious interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world, and this is exactly the position Gomes is currently in.

Reports suggest that he is stalling the negotiations regarding a new contract at United that has been on the table for quite a while now. His reluctance to sign it so far has suggested that a move away could be on the cards.
Juventus and Barcelona have displayed a strong interest in securing the teenager’s services, and are tempted to make a move for him. Since Gomes hasn’t officially signed a first professional contract yet, he could leave United for as little as nothing next summer.
Fans are crossing their fingers in hope that this will not be how things pan out for the teenager who recently helped England win the U-17 World Cup. However, if you were worried that he has already left the club based on Mata’s latest blog post, then fear no more, as it was just a simple misinterpretation.

The faulty translation read: “PS: I take this opportunity to congratulate England for winning the Under-17 World Cup in India. In particular to my former team-mate Angel Gomes, who made his debut against Crystal Palace in the final game of the last Premier League season. He’s part of a great generation of players that can bring more success in the future.”
However, as pointed out by one journalist, the post was misinterpreted and translated wrong, so United fans have nothing to worry about. @CheGiaevara tweeted the proper translation out, which read: ‘”In Spanish he writes «with whom I shared dressing rooms with last season as he made his debut vs Crystal Palace.» Lost in translation.”
