Chelsea To Offer Fabregas A New Contract Amid Interest From Rivals
Chelsea are ready to offer Cesc Fabregas a fresh new contract following recent interest from Manchester United, reports The Times.
Though not as important as he once was, the Spaniard remains a useful asset to the club, and might be on his way to extending his stay in West London. Fabregas has already registered a goal and 2 assists in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.
On the other hand, the talented playmaker, who has just 18 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, has recently attracted interest from the Red Devils. Consequently, the Blues have decided to offer the former Arsenal man a new contract in order to tie his future at the club.

However, the La Masia graduate will have to settle for a short term contract of just a year, due to the Londoners’ policy of offering just 1-year contracts for players who are aged 30 or above. Though not a deal breaker, such contracts hardly offer any security to a player’s future.
Oddly, Gary Cahill was seen being offered a 4-year contract just weeks before his 30th birthday, which might indicate the policy is somewhat flexible. Nevertheless, if the report is believed to be true, the contract offer is a clear attempt from the Pensioners to ward off any interest from the Manchester outfit.
Though the record champions have already managed to buff up their midfield by luring former Chelsea man Nemanja Matic, the addition of the 30-year-old would certainly add a creative boost to an already near-perfect system. However, Chelsea are expected to keep hold of their star, and convince him to commit his future at the club.
