Paul Scholes Explains The Reason Why Manchester United Aren’t Playing Exciting Football

Paul Scholes has admitted that he does not believe Manchester United’s current team is capable of winning trophies while playing attacking football at the same time.
The Red Devils started the current season with some incredible displays of flair and free-flowing football. However, they have been very defensive minded of late, and many are starting to call this a typical Jose Mourinho set up – results over style.
Scholes, who knows a thing or two about attacking football after having played his entire career under Sir Alex Ferguson, echoes these thoughts from fans and fellow pundits, claiming that he doesn’t believe the team is capable of playing stylish football and win the Premier League at the same time.
“I think they’re in a position where they’ve brought a manager in to win games, win trophies, and ultimately now win the league,” he said (via BT Sport). “The club isn’t really in a position to determine how they win the league. We know we’d all like to see brilliant attacking football, wave after wave of attacks, but I don’t think this team is possibly capable of that.
“I don’t think that’s the way this manager does it, he’s first and foremost a defensive coach. He wants to set up in a way that will stop the other team playing and he is doing that. We have to accept his style of football as many clubs have done, and he’s very successful at doing it.
“This season, they’ve won a lot of games. It’s not been brilliant football. After four years, I think there comes a point when philosophies have to go out the window.”
