Midfielder Prepared To Reject Manchester United For Chelsea

Chelsea face Manchester United on Sunday in what is a must-win fixture for Antonio Conte’s men. Ahead of the clash, they must introspect about the form of the players at hand, as well as the lineups they command, largely due to a run of bad form in recent weeks.

With the winter transfer window inching close, the club will also have to worry about the contract of some of their talents, and one player in particular, who Manchester United have on their radar.

Cesc Fàbregas joined the Blues from Barcelona back in 2014, and has been integral to the club’s success since. However, with only 18 months left on his current deal, interest has already arisen for the Spaniard, with the Red Devils being the prominent name.

However, the former Arsenal player has made his intention clear, and revealed quite a lot about his desire in an exclusive interview with Evening Standard.

The midfielder stated: “Would I like to renew? Yes, because it is a club that has always treated me well.  I believe the fans have a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for them. I have given my all for the club for the last three-and-a-half years. Hopefully, another contract will happen. Time will tell.”

Further, the Spanish international, who is 30 years old, is well aware of Chelsea’s policy of only providing one-year extensions to players over 30.

He had this to say about that: “I know that people panic after players reach 30 and stuff like that, but I don’t believe in this. I feel well, I feel young in my mind. I train every day as hard as possible. I always try to give my best. I will play at any moment, even when I’m sick or not 100 percent.”

His desire to stay and fight for his position is in no doubt, and the Mancunian giants will probably have no choice but to give up on any pursuit for his signature as a result of it.
