Lionel Messi Seriously Considered Making A Shock Move Just A Few Months Ago
Lionel Messi has been widely hailed as the finest player of our times. His performance and sheer brilliance have always demanded an apt team to be built around him, and for his entire career, Barcelona have proven to be the ideal side to fulfill that potential.
However, other teams across Europe would still provide all that they can just to be the team in which Messi exercises his abilities. This is evident in a large number of speculation that money rich powerhouses are reportedly preparing huge deals. Despite that, it would appear that Messi’s heart lies elsewhere.
A report on TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones (via Daily Express) has revealed that the Argentine superstar had been seriously considering a huge offer from the Chinese Super League just a few months ago.
Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda revealed: “They tell me that he would have received offers of €150 million (£134m) per season. Despite this, his intention is to stay, although he has three offers in case he decides to leave the Barca team. City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain all love him.”
The clubs mentioned certainly have more than enough financial backing to see not just the transfer through, but also finance Messi’s enormous wage package.
At 30 years of age, the world-class striker has a mere seven months left on his Barcelona contract, and no sure source has implicated that a new deal is anywhere close in the making. Besides that, mixed details have also arisen, which would certainly spike the interest of several clubs.
As things stand, he could potentially begin negotiating an exit as early as January. But on a realistic scale, the thought of Messi playing in the CSL, and switching from having Ronaldo as his rival to Oscar, seems like a laughable and unlikely scenario, despite the huge money that the East might have to offer.
