Zlatan Ibrahimovic savoured his first taste of the 2017-18 season last night, as United secured three valuable points against Newcastle.

The 36-year-old marked his return after being sidelined for seven months, in view of the fact that he ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee in the game against Anderlecht in April.

The star striker even fancied a bizarre acrobatic shot late in the match, which could have added to the home side’s tally had it not been tipped away by Elliot.

Nevertheless, posterior to the fascinating game, the former PSG man and fellow returnee Paul Pogba were brought in for an interview, and evidently, it was as captivating as the match was.

Zlatan, when asked whether he was concerned about returning early from what happened to be a grave injury, hilariously replied: “No because lions they do not recover like humans,” provoking a giggle from the Frenchman beside him in the process.

The Swede further added: “It’s special. Different day, same quality. I am not worried. I am not worried at all because I know what I do. I train hard. I sacrificed a lot. It is not easy, especially in my case. It was not like I went on vacation.

“I had a different summer because I was without a contract. As soon as I signed I wanted to focus on the team. I wanted to give something to help the team as best as possible. It’s about coming back and making a statement. I’m just thankful I can play football again.”

The incident was indubitably followed by numerous reactions on Twitter:

The veteran forward has indeed proved that he is a lion when it comes to footballing skills, with the performance he showcases every now and then.

Regardless, the three points have aided the Red Devils to stay in the second spot in the Premier League table, with Chelsea rising up to the third spot, as Tottenham suffered a defeat against Arsenal yesterday.
