Manchester United are reportedly planning a sensational double swoop for La Liga superstars Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann.

The Red Devils have been linked with both these star forwards for quite some time, and as per SunSport‘s latest report, the Premier League giants are finally set to make a decisive move to secure their services come summer.

United have been in pursuit of Gareth Bale ever since his Tottenham days, and they even tried to hijack his world record transfer to Real Madrid back in 2013.

But the Welshman chose to move to the Spanish capital instead, where he has enjoyed a glorious trophy-laden spell. However, his stay at the Bernabeu has also been riddled with several successive injuries, much to the frustration of both the player and the club.

In fact, the wide-man is currently on the sidelines with a thigh injury as well, and Los Blancos seem to have finally had enough of his never-ending fitness issues. Therefore, the Spanish outfit has decided to part ways with him, and that too for a meagre £50m.

Spurs do possess the first refusal option on Bale due to the clause in the winger’s Real Madrid contract, but given their strict wage structure, Jose Mourinho could end up being the real winner of this transfer saga.

Along with Bale, the Portuguese tactician also wants to secure the services of Atletico Madrid talisman Antoine Griezmann in the upcoming summer window.

The Frenchman almost ended up at Old Trafford last summer, but the move broke down at the final stages due to the player’s refusal to abandon Los Rojiblancos during their transfer ban. However, United appear set to seal the deal this time around.

As per the same report, Manchester United officials recently met with the 26-year-old’s representatives during the international break, so as to discuss the terms of this blockbuster transfer.

Following the meeting, it was established that the Reds can complete this major signing for less than the £86m release clause in Griezmann’s contract, as the France international is eager to depart from the Wanda Metropolitano outfit.
