Rafa Benitez Ready To Help United Youngster Reignite His Career
Rafa Benitez is eager to bring Luke Shaw to Newcastle United in January, as the club’s hunt for a new left-back continues.
Shaw has been out of favor at Man United, having failed to convince Jose Mourinho about his attitude towards the game.
The United boss has on several occasions admitted that the Englishman has what it takes to make it at the highest level, but a poor attitude towards training is holding him back.
That being said, it seems like there will be no way back for the 22-year-old unless he can somehow prove his worth, and this is where Newcastle could come in handy.
According to Mirror, Benitez believes he could help Shaw rediscover the form that made him one of England’s most exciting young prospects while still at Southampton and helped him win seven caps for his country.
With the Toon short on funds, at least until the new owner completes the takeover, it appears that they will have no option but to get Shaw on a loan deal at best. However, it goes without saying that a move will benefit both parties at this stage of the season.
They may face some serious competition from Tottenham Hotspur, though, as Mauricio Pochettino was crucial in helping develop Shaw into the player he was while the pair were still at Southampton together. With Danny Rose looking set to leave Spurs, it could open the door for a swap deal.
