Wenger Reveals What Interested Clubs Need To Do To Sign Ozil In January
Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of Mesut Özil, but according to Arséne Wenger, it would take something special to convince him to cash in on the Arsenal superstar.
The Red Devils have been keen on plotting a move for the German since the past couple of months, and are among Europe’s elite that are competing for his signature. Mourinho is also an open admirer of Özil, and has reportedly set his sights on a reunion.
However, the Portuguese mastermind will have to produce something ‘unbelievable’ if he were to bring the German international over to Old Trafford, as evident by Arsene Wenger’s latest comments.
The French manager recently stated: “In my head, they [Özil and Alexis] stay until the end of the season. That is the decision taken at the start of the season unless something unbelievable happens. Will they stay longer? That is impossible to answer today.”
The former Real Madrid man’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and he will be open to negotiate deals with foreign clubs as soon as the January window is opened.
And unfortunately for the Gunners faithful, their star player is yet to show any signs of wanting to extend his stay in North London.
In the case of Alexis Sanchez, the situation is similar, if not worse. As of now, the former club record signing holds a better chance of signing a new contract than the Chilean, who reportedly tried to force a deadline day move to rivals Manchester City.
United and Barcelona, on the other hand, are the prime candidates competing for the 29-year-old World Cup winner’s services.
