Real Madrid President Gives A Warning To David De Gea
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly issued a warning to David de Gea regarding a move to the European and Spanish champions. The Spaniard’s saga with Real has been a long one, and several reports have come earlier where speculations continued to link him with a move.
Earlier this month, it was said that United manager Jose Mourinho could sanction a move for his No. 1 keeper if Raphael Varane comes the other way. Reports that followed stated that the Old Trafford club may give a green signal to De Gea if his counterpart Keylor Navas switched to Manchester.
No matter what has been said, Spanish outlet Diario Gol has now gone on to claim that the Madrid president has issued a timeline to the shot-stopper to make a move next summer, or else they would go ahead with the signing of Thibaut Courtois.
The Chelsea custodian is out of contract in the summer, and although the London club is desperate to tie him down, the Belgian is yet to agree to a new deal.
Courtois recently claimed in an interview with Sky Sports that he feels he is the world’s best goalkeeper at the moment. Several pundits and fans may disagree, but the 25-year-old definitely is one of the best, alongside some elite names.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Real hierarchy is closely monitoring his situation, and if he fails to extend his stay with the Blues, then he could be available as a suitable alternative to De Gea.
The Spanish No. 1 is said to be happy under manager Jose Mourinho, but Real are still said to be interested in the Spanish international, despite failing to land him in 2015, when almost everything was in their grasp.
The 26-year-old will not come cheap for the European champions, and they would be expected to dish out mega bucks. Meanwhile, United are believed to be keen to offer a new contract to their prized asset, as the keeper’s current contract lasts until 2019.
