Paul Pogba Reveals The Brilliant Reason Why He Rejected Real Madrid

Manchester United are not a club that one can say no to easily. Despite that, an offer from an equally strong name is more often than not very hard to refuse, and the dilemma at hand can be quite a challenging one.

But it certainly appears that such an interest was posed to one maestro in particular, who was under the radar of Real Madrid before the Red Devils were successful in making the signing, or in this case, the re-signing.

Paul Pogba’s then world record transfer of £89.5 million from Juventus back in August 2016 had made him the talk of the continent, and the Frenchman was touted for much success, which his recent performances in the Premier League have certainly shown the truth of.

Now, whilst recently speaking to Beyond The Pitch podcast, the 24-year-old has revealed: “To be honest, Real Madrid came to me and I was thinking to go there, and I was thinking to go to Manchester United too.

“But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here, I don’t know why; I didn’t know what was going to happen. But I did it, and I don’t regret. I never regret my choice.”

The Old Trafford faithful will be extremely happy that Pogba chose his old club instead, as the starlet’s then free move to Italy has since been repeatedly hailed as one of the most profound periods of development that a player has enjoyed on the highest stage.

Pogba continued on regarding his first season back, saying: “Obviously the main objective was to win the Premier League. It didn’t happen but we won other trophies, so I’m glad.”

Going over the reason behind the club’s success, the prolific dabber and playmaker alike cited Mourinho to be an important presence at the club: “He’s really special. He has a special way to start the games, a special way to speak to the players, a special way to speak to the journalists, so he’s really special.

“He motivates me. He speaks to me a lot. He trusts me. He’s the one who made me captain in the Champions League (against Basel) so I can see that he really believes in me.”
