Cristiano Ronaldo’s days at Old Trafford are ones that the club’s faithful will cherish for years to come.
Such was his expertise that the desire to have him playing back again in his illustrious jersey is always a vocal one during the transfer windows.
However, it would appear that this time around, the Portuguese star might have helped the Red Devils in a different manner, by ensuring that one of their most-awaited targets will choose Old Trafford over Barcelona.

According to a report in Don Balon, Ronaldo had a talk with Mesut Ozil. The Arsenal playmaker shared years with the superstar during their days at Real Madrid, and that is believed to be the factor in favor of Jose Mourinho.

It would appear that Ronaldo explained to Ozil how a move to Barcelona would adversely affect his relationship with Real Madrid fans, and as of such, the German was much better off being reunited with Mourinho at Man Utd instead.
The heightened level of speculation has arisen due to the fact that Ozil is in his last year of contract with the Gunners, who would happily accept any price in the winter rather than lose him for free come summer.
United were the team most linked with the star, but the Catalan giants leaped into the picture recently, and looked to be the side more poised to make the signing.
While Camp Nou will desire Ozil as consolation for not landing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, the Red Devils were looking to secure the playmaker’s services to deploy him as the direct replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whose days as a Red seem all but over.
As of such, it will be interesting to see precisely what kind of an effect Ronaldo’s alleged words will have on the assist king.
