The Shocking Jose Mourinho Decision That Cost United The Leicester Game

Manchester United managed to salvage a point from one of their substantial fixtures last night, as they squared off against Leicester City, which ended in a 2-2 draw with either set of supporters unsatisfied.

Deep into the match, Chris Smalling pulled up with a groin injury.

However, what intrigued most of the supporters and the ex-United defender Gary Neville was that the Englishman was allowed to reoperate on the pitch moments after being temporarily sidelined.

Neville asserted that he couldn’t believe Mourinho’s decision to not substitute the 28-year-old, as the gaffer just reintroduced him after he received treatment.

However, the defensive line became terribly weak in view of his groin issue, which enabled Harry Maguire to power up his side with a goal.

Here’s how Neville reacted on Twitter:

Commentating on the fixture for Sky Sports, Gary spoke: “You can’t believe it, he cannot believe it. And I have to say, have I just seen what I have just seen? It’s an unbelievable cross from Albrighton.

“But Chris Smalling has just come back onto the pitch into a central defensive position, I cannot believe he’s gone back on in there into a position to pick up the best header of the ball at the back post.”

The decorated right-back continued: “You see him limping there at the back post with Ashley Young, and it’s incredible. He had a chance in the first half Maguire, it’s an unbelievable finish to this match.

“The quality is wonderful from Albrighton, the finish is fantastic. You have to question whether De Gea should be out there, it’s three yards out from goal. But take nothing away from Leicester, a wonderful moment for those fans.”

With just one point from last night’s game, Mourinho’s men have yet again increased the point gap between Manchester City. A catch up now seems virtually impossible.

However, the Portuguese tactician intends to revamp the team by exploiting the winter transfer window, and that might provide them with enough gunpowder to fire them up to close in on the Citizens.
