What Manchester United Fans Chanted At Wayne Rooney During The Everton Game
Manchester United and Everton locked horns on the opening day of 2018, and the Merseyside team was schooled 2-0 by the Red Devils, who delivered a remarkable performance, particularly in the second half, where goals from Martial and Lingard led to the victory.
Wayne Rooney had a subpar performance in the match, and was subbed off in the second half. However, he might not have impressed the traveling fans that had interesting chants pointed at him.
Tweeting about the incident, MEN Editor Samuel Luckhurst revealed: “Everton fans applauding United fans for chanting ‘Rooney’. Then they laugh as United fans chant ‘You Scouse b*****d’. #mufc”

This is certainly in line with other reports coming in stating that the former Manchester United player and their all-time top goalscorer was in fact, perhaps, even called a ‘fat bastard’.
While banter is common in the English game, it certainly seems wrong on the part of the traveling fans to have resorted this low to a player like Rooney, especially after his years of service at Old Trafford.
Further, considering the fact that his goal tally so far this season is more or less equal to that of big money purchases Morata and Lukaku, the chant has an added element of non-necessity to it.
Regardless, the sides seemed to have had their fun from the stadium, and a good laugh seems to have sat at the heart of it all, and that is what matters foremost.
