Despite the fact that football fanatics could conjure up only celebrated names like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi when they think of world’s richest footballer, the records indicate the existence of a 19-year-old Bruneian who evidently hit the glorious title, leapfrogging any football legend.
Footballers are expected to make loads of paper by displaying their skills in front of the audience through the game of football. And the mega marketing or commercial deals received off it also serve as a wild medium for piling up money.
Naturally, stars mentioned above made a fortune for themselves in view of their talents and the services they offered to their respective clubs. However, any notable footballer stands nowhere when it comes to the financial prospects of a Leicester City reserve.

Faiq Bolkiah, a teenager, is supposedly worth an estimated $20 billion (£14 billion). Although he’s a professional footballer, the massive financial reserve did not arise from his career. In fact, Faiq is the nephew of Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, which stands as the sound basis for the fortune of the Brunei national team captain.
Having started his footballing career at AFC Newbury, the potential winger has been playing in England for a while now. The Southampton academy graduate joined Arsenal in 2013 when the Gunners offered him a trial. The 19-year-old even netted a goal for them in the 2013 Lion City Cup against Singapore.
He was then snatched by Chelsea, who provided the teenager with a two-year-deal. However, he left for Leicester City after a year on a three-year contract. Although he’s yet to make an appearance for his current club, the rich figure has played for Brunei, representing his country nine times.
It’s not far-fetched to claim Faiq could live off rest of his life luxuriously without earning a penny. However, on a certain occasion, the wealthy footballer expressed his undying love for football.
“I’ve played football since as early as I can remember and from a young age I’ve always enjoyed going out on the field and having the ball at my feet,” he said (via Mirror).
“My parents have always been supportive in helping me to achieve my dreams of being a footballer and they trained me hard both psychologically and physically through my childhood years, so I have to say they are my role models.”
