Explained: How Mkhitaryan Can STOP Sanchez From Arriving At Old Trafford

The Alexis Sanchez transfer saga seems to develop more and more as the days go by.

For much of the season, it seemed likely that City would be the side that would get his signature, but since last week, United have emerged as the side most touted to make the signing, what with the enormous fees having scared City off.

But now, Chelsea too, are believed to be interested, and have allegedly submitted a bid last night. But as things stand, the negotiations between Arsenal and United are the strongest – £25 million plus Henrikh Mkhitaryan, or the deal’s off.

And now, a recent revelation might put the entire deal in jeopardy. As per BBC, a source close to Henrikh Mkhitaryan has claimed that the Armenian has not agreed to any deal involving a move to Arsenal, nor is such an agreement currently in the making.

This will be a crucial cog, as neither United nor Arsenal will go ahead with the transfer without Mkhitaryan being the player swapped.

This is indeed a surprising turn of events, considering that Arsenal were the team that the Red Devils beat back in 2016 to ensure that the Borussia Dortmund player would go to Old Trafford.

Despite being used sparingly by Jose Mourinho this season, it would appear that traveling to London is not on the cards for the 28-year-old either. With a new clause activated recently, the player is set to stay at United until 2020, and could cause a major setback in the Sanchez deal.

If that does turn out to be the case, will Chelsea be the team eager to lap the Chilean up? Or will Arsenal decide to hold onto him till the end of the season after all? In that scenario, City would re-enter the fray, as Pep Guardiola’s side seems the likely destination for free agent Sanchez.
