Making the most out of young and upcoming prospects appears to be the trend which has largely governed the transfer markets of recent years.

After the culmination of the most recent one, however, Manchester United were seen victorious with the signature of Alexis Sanchez, beating bitter rivals Manchester City in the race to sign the Gunner.

But in case of an upcoming talent, it might be the Cityzens that have emerged triumphant and outdone their illustrious neighbors.

As per Mirror, Manchester City have secured the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s impressive midfielder, Fred. The deal agreed between the two clubs for the summer is believed to be in the range of £50 million.

Touted to be Fernandinho’s replacement in the heart of the City midfield, as he was when he initially joined Donetsk in 2013, the Brazilian was also a target of Manchester United.

However, the source adds that after the club was made aware of the player’s intention to work under Pep Guardiola, the Red Devils had dropped their interest altogether.

If the agreement is indeed of any substance, then City have secured for themselves a phenomenal signing that will make great strides in their intent to be Europe’s finest club.
