Top 5 Transfer Stories Of The Day – March 19, 2018
With the 2017/18 season approaching its final stage, a host of European elites have already started drawing up their masterplans to concoct a side that’ll simply cause mayhem during the next campaign. Here’s a run through of five such transfer stories from across Europe:
1. Neymar To United
Neymar’s €222 million world-record transfer to PSG last season could be in serious jeopardy, as the world’s richest club has set its eyes on the Brazilian ace. Don Balon reports that Manchester United are considering a massive swoop for the former Barcelona star.
However, Red Devils won’t be the only ones vying to land Neymar, as long-term admirers Real Madrid are also keen to acquire the forward’s signature.
2. Nzonzi To Juventus
Sevilla could see one of their star players, Steven Nzonzi, leave the club next season, as Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggests Serie A Champions Juventus have decided to activate the Frenchman’s €30 million buyout clause.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also said to be interested in a move for the experienced midfielder, but are not willing to pay his release clause, primarily because of his age.
Nzonzi still has a year left on his current deal, but with solid interest from Spain, Italy, and England, the 29-year-old is likely to end his stay with the La Liga side come summer.
3. Felix To Arsenal/Man City
Premier League clubs City and Arsenal have identified Benfica teenager, Joao Felix, as a potential transfer target.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims that the two English juggernauts are keen to sign the 18-year-old attacker, who hasn’t yet made a single first-team appearance for the Eagles.
To ward off any interest, Benfica have included a giant €60 million release clause in their young star’s contract.
4. Vazquez To Liverpool
The Reds have been linked with multiple high profile players over the past few months, and are now said to be in contention to bag Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez.
Diario Gol claims that Liverpool are looking to add more firepower up-front, and thus, are eyeing the Spanish winger. But the Merseyside club is likely to face stiff competition from Arsenal, Tottenham, and Roma, who are also in the race for his signature.
5. Martial To Juventus
The Italian Champions have gotten down to resolute business ahead of the summer transfer window, and this time, have manifested some genuine interest in Manchester United starlet Anthony Martial.
According to Italian outlet Premium Sport, Juve director Pavel Nedved has held a meeting with Nelio Lucas, head of Doyen Sport, who happen to be Martial’s representatives, in order to discuss a future move.
However, United are said to be reluctant in going through with the sale of the ex-Monaco star, who has particularly thrived under the management of Jose Mourinho.
