This season’s winter transfer window saw a couple of high-profile deals go through, but Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United was the one to catch everyone’s eye.

A move which looked far from reality, especially with the Chilean supposedly set to join rivals Manchester City next season, the Sanchez-Mkhitaryan swap deal came as a shock to the Premier League fraternity.

However, the former Arsenal star has gone on the backfoot ever since arriving at Old Trafford. Sanchez has had a sub-standard start to his Red Devils career with just one goal in his 10 appearances.

On top of that, the forward’s performance level has taken an incredible dip, and as a result, he was even dropped from the starting XI for the first time by Jose Mourinho for United’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Brighton on Saturday.

Nonetheless, many believe that considering the 29-year-old’s calibre, he wouldn’t take long to bounce back from this minor setback and show his true class, which all the United fans were buzzing about when he signed for the Old Trafford outfit in January.

And though the Manchester United faithful were ecstatic, there was one particular player who wasn’t that happy nay aloof when he first heard about the switch.

Marcos Rojo, while talking to TV channel TyC Sports, revealed that his first reaction on finding about the deal was ‘Oh, f***ing hell,’ particularly because of his strained relationship with Sanchez on-field.

“Alexis is a great player, but we didn’t used to get on out on the pitch,” Rojo said.

“Every time we came up against one another, whether in internationals or when United played Arsenal, I would give him a good kicking – and he did the same to me. On top of that, I used to insult him, and he would reply in kind.

“So when I learned that he was going to join United I said: ‘Oh, f***ing hell, no, now this guy’s going to be here.’

“We were in Dubai at the time Alexis’ transfer went through. I was calmly sitting in a chair watching a film when Jose Mourinho came up and gave me a tap on the shoulder. He told me: ‘We’re going to sign Alexis. I don’t want you smashing him up in training tomorrow.’ He burst out laughing.”
