Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti kept quiet when asked about whether he will sign for English club Manchester United in the future.

The Frenchman was with teammate Olivier Giroud on TF1’s Telefoot programme, where he participated in a informative questionnaire which required him to reply on a ‘yes’, ‘no’ or ‘joker’ basis. With the latter signifying a manner where there is no response to the question.

When Umtiti was asked about if he would move to Manchester in the future, the 24-year-old used the joker option.

This came after he used the same response when asked whether he will extend his contract at the Camp Nou.

Umtiti has grown to become one of the most significant central defenders in the world. His form has seen him not only seal a spot in the Barca side, but also the French national team. With the FIFA World Cup in June 2018, Umtiti is an assured starter alongside Raphael Varane in the line-up.

The rising star is also eyeing a host of trophies with Barca this season besides the coveted World Cup with France, as they go in as one of the favourites of the tourney. He has already gone on to make 76 appearances for the Catalan ginats after a move from Lyon in 2016.

The talented Frenchman has 15 games under his belt for the national side. With Jose Mourinho still keen to add to his defence options, Umtiti presents an option.

Although it is highly anticipated that the Barcelona will not let him part ways so easily, and would be wanting to avoid a Neymar-esque situation, which saw the Brazilian move to Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee last summer.
