Jose Mourinho is keen on rebuilding United’s defence, which despite its fairly decent performances, has shown a shaky front when it was most required for them to excel.

Regardless of tactical chinks, the problem at left-back is one that the gaffer will try to tackle head first, as having Ashley Young can only provide temporary respite.

It would appear that an apt solution might arrive in the form of a Juventus player, and if all goes according to plan, Mourinho might even end up making a smart piece of business with the nature of the deal.

As per Calciomercato, United are favorites to sign Alex Sandro from the Italian giants. The Brazilian left-back has been pursued by numerous clubs, the most noteworthy being Chelsea, who were said to have made multiple attempts last summer.

Juventus, for their part, refused to part ways, and the hefty price tag of £70 million still hangs in the balance for the 27-year-old’s signature.

However, should Sandro seek an exit from the Old Lady, it is understood that Old Trafford would be his preferred destination, with Jose Mourinho also being a huge fan from the player’s Porto days itself.

What will potentially ease the deal as well is a claim suggesting that Matteo Darmian will be offered to Juventus as part of the deal. This way, Juventus will have an immediate reimbursement in terms of numbers on their roster.

The Italy international simply hasn’t kicked off that well under Mourinho, and as of such, a deal of this nature will come as no surprise.

With Luke Shaw’s future in even more dubious waters, the need for a player like Sandro in that coveted spot becomes all the more necessary at the Theatre of Dreams.

Daley Blind is another player who could make his way out of the club in the summer, and that leaves Mourinho with more room to fill his defense with apt names.
