How Manchester United Would Play If Louis van Gaal Was Still The Manager
Manchester United are on their third manager since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down, and though life under Jose Mourinho is not exactly the most entertaining, it has surely been fruitful.
However, falling behind rivals has also been a trend ever since the Scot’s departure. Manchester City have overtaken their neighbours by a margin, and United’s runners-up position looks vulnerable with Liverpool in red hot form.
Nevertheless, the Portuguese secured 3 trophies in his first season despite criticism about the quality of football at Old Trafford, and most supporters too, would rather prefer silverware over entertaining football.
However, former boss Louis van Gaal, despite his mediocre management during his time in Manchester, insists that he could have gotten the Red Devils to play like Pep Guardiola’s current Manchester City side.

“Pep Guardiola is for me currently the best coach of the Premier League,” Van Gaal recently told BILD.
“Pep has made City a machine. He shows the style of football that I would have liked to play at Manchester United.

“But he has better players for it. For me, the process would have taken longer. Unfortunately, I did not get the time.”
The Dutchman led his United side to their first trophy since Ferguson, but was sacked immediately at the end of the season.
And though with time, Van Gaal could have transformed United, his displays as manager points to a contrasting direction.
