It’s not everyday that the top two teams in a country produce a clash to be remembered for ages, but when it comes to Manchester, especially in recent times, the two Mancunian juggernauts almost never fail to put on a show for their fans when they go head-to-head in a battle to paint the City red or blue.

Saturday’s derby was once again nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime outing for both the home and traveling fans.

A steady start by the two Manchester giants soon turned into a party for the men wearing blue, as their captain, Vincent Kompany, and Ilkay Gundogan netted a goal each by the end of first half to give City what looked like an unassailable lead.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men had a different script in their mind when they returned to the pitch for the second half.

Paul Pogba’s quick-fire brace and a sumptuous volley by Chris Smalling stunned the bouncing Etihad to its core, as United were on course of completing one of the most breathtaking comebacks of the Premier League era, and that too at the home of the Champions-elect.

Though the Cityzens were not ready to surrender their bragging rights just yet, and Pep Guardiola brought on Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus to barrage the United goal, and so they did.

But with the world’s best goalkeeper on guard for the Red Devils, even the noisiest Cityzens were shushed when David De Gea pulled an absolute blinder-of-a-save to keep Aguero’s header from entering his net, right towards the end of the sensational match.

And despite Pogba being named as the man of the match, the Frenchman didn’t shy away from letting the world know that there was another star at the back because of whom the Old Trafford outfit clinched the massive victory.

After the game, the cameras pictured Pogba approaching De Gea whilst shouting ‘numero uno’; suggesting his belief that the Spaniard was the number one goalkeeper in the world.

The fans too, loved what the France international did, and expressed their feelings via Twitter, as many heaped praise on the hero of the game for his gesture.
