The Stupid Thing ‘Frustrated’ Pep Guardiola Did During Half-Time Against Liverpool

Pep Guardiola invited unnecessary trouble during half-time in the quarter-finals 2nd leg tie of the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool.

With his side trailing 3-0 ahead of the match, Gabriel Jesus gave the hosts a dream start by scoring in the second minute of the tie.

City could have gone 2-0 ahead in the first half, after German sensation Leroy Sane scored the second of the night. But unfortunately, it was ruled offside by the official under controversial circumstances.

This in turn, had Pep heated up, and he lashed out at the referee once the whistle was blown for half-time.

The 47-year-old charged onto the pitch and exchanged some heated words at referee Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz, and the manager was duly sent off to the stands for his protests.

It was an unnecessary choice by the manager, who understandably was running high with emotions. His protests would not have changed the earlier decision.

The Spaniard watched the entire second half from the stands, and looked dejected. His side then went on to concede two more goals, and lose the tie 1-2 to bow out of Europe. He threw every dice on to the pitch, but nothing worked.

Liverpool’s aggregate 5-1 win against Premier League leaders City saw Pep fail to reach the semis for a second time in a row. He bowed out last season against Monaco in the Round of 16.

This loss, in turn, was Pep’s third in a row this season across all competitions, after one away to Liverpool and a derby defeat over the weekend.
