Anthony Martial has paid homage to outgoing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in a special tribute posted on his social media pages.

Wenger announced earlier last week that he would finally be stepping down as Gunners’ boss at the end of the season, after 22 glittering years with the club.

Despite the fact that he has constantly been criticized in recent times and aggressively requested by sections of the club’s fans to leave, his announcement was met by an outpour of affection and adulation on social media platforms, for his service and the remarkable contribution he has made to English football and the sport as a whole.

The tributes keep on coming, and now, United star Anthony Martial has put in his mark of respect as well.

The Frenchman came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute of his side’s 2-1 win over the Gunners, but he made it a point to go over to his elderly compatriot at the full-time whistle and share a word with him.

Afterwards, he took to Twitter to upload a picture of them talking after the game, and posted the picture alongside the caption ‘Tribute to a legend’.

It is no secret that Wenger wanted to bring his fellow Frenchman to Arsenal before United signed him back in 2015, and he claimed that the only reason the club didn’t move for him was because Monaco said he was not sellable.

‘I thought they would maintain their word. He was not sellable. He was not on the list,’ Wenger had revealed. ‘He was one of the players Monaco did not want to sell, so we never made an approach for him.’
