Manchester United have confirmed that Thomas Sang has signed a contract extension with the club.

The midfielder has been a regular for United’s U-23 side and the UEFA Youth League side, despite his injury troubles.

His journey so far has been a tough one, but his perseverance and his incredible will and determination to have a career in professional football has got him to where he is today.

The Liverpool-born 18-year-old underwent a lengthy trial at the AON Training Complex before the club finally signed him up.

While he failed to initially make it as a regular at the U-18 level, the Englishman used the two years of his scholarship to constantly improve and develop so that he would be good enough to make it for the U-23’s.

The starlet’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, and he has now been rewarded with a contract extension. He operates as a defensive midfielder, whose main focus is to act as a protective screen to Ricky Sbragia’s back line.

United made the announcement on their twitter page with a link to an article on their main website. The tweet read: “MUFC Under-23s midfielder Tom Sang is the latest player to commit his future to the club, after signing a new deal”.
