Jose Mourinho has two major reasons to offload Anthony Martial this summer.

Having already fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, Anthony Martial’s future at Man United now looks more unclear than ever before.

Moreover, following the Red Devils’ shock defeat to Brighton, wherein the Frenchman’s performance was far below his usual standards, Jose Mourinho took an indirect dig towards the youngster, citing his poor display as the reason behind his consistent exclusion from the starting lineups.

Several sources have since linked the 22-year-old with a departure from Old Trafford come summer, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Juventus rumoured to be interested in securing his services.

And now, Italian outlet Tuttosport has claimed that Martial is extremely likely to part ways with United at the end of the season, as Mourinho has two big reasons to offload the pacey starlet.

As per the terms in Martial’s contract, United will have to pay the player’s former club, AS Monaco, a fee of €10m if he earns 25 caps for France. Furthermore, the Reds will have to cough up another €10m if he makes it to the top 50 in the Ballon d’Or list.

But, the report states that Mourinho intends to make better use of his transfer funds. Therefore, to avoid paying an extra €20m to the Ligue 1 outfit, the English giants will look to part ways with the France international as early as possible.

However, United also hope to ensure they don’t lose Martial to a direct English rival, which is precisely why they proposed an impossible swap deal to Chelsea, demanding Willian in exchange for their young wide-man.

The second reason behind Mourinho’s motive to sell Martial is to gather enough funds as well as make room for an attacking recruit, in the form of Lyon superstar Nabil Fekir.

Fekir has enjoyed an impressive campaign in the French league this term, thereby attracting interest from a host of English giants, viz. Arsenal, Chelsea, and primarily Liverpool.

While the Lyon captain’s arrival at the Theatre of Dreams looks far from likely as of now, Martial’s future at the decorated club sure seems to be under serious jeopardy.
