After failing to keep up with their neighbours who lifted the league title, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are desperate to add some quality to their first team this summer.

They are looking to improve on a number of positions in the squad, and one player the manager has now turned to is Atletico Madrid star Šime Vrsaljko.

Having joined Atletico Madrid from Sassuolo in 2016 for just £14.5m, the Croatian international is yet to establish himself in the first team under Diego Simeone.

He has 19 league starts to his name this season, most of them as a right-back, but Šime Vrsaljko is a versatile player, who can also play at left-back.

And reports now suggest that Atletico Madrid might be tempted to let him leave this summer at the right price. A story from Daily Mail today claims that Manchester United are interested in the 26-year old, and are ready to meet his valuation.

The same reports claims that the Spanish giants have set an asking price of £30m, which might not be a fruitful deal for the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho has used Antonio Valencia as his first choice right-back in the recent league campaign, and has Matteo Darmian, who is also linked with an exit, as the only real backup in the first team.

Valencia, who is now 32, will soon need to be replaced, and Vrsaljko is a decent option.

An excellent crosser with experience in three different leagues, Vrsaljko also has 34 appearances for the national side, and is an established defender, but the story claims that £30m might be a bit too steep, even for the English giants.

He has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester City in the past, and could be a huge hit in England, but do you think he is the right man for Manchester United?
