Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily missed at Old Trafford. The Portuguese magician wreaked havoc at Manchester United, and hasn’t stopped continuing the same in La Liga with Real Madrid.

A return to his favored chomping grounds has always been in the news, and it is a prospect that fans have looked at with great hope.

Mourinho himself stated that Real Madrid would be unlikely to ever let go of Ronaldo, except maybe in his advanced stages, and that too only to a place like the MLS. However, recent murmurs seem to indicate that the 33-year-old may not be that deeply rooted at Madrid after all.

Diario Gol reports that Ronaldo is currently weighing his options, and a return to Manchester United may be on the cards. The premise of wanting a departure stems from the fact that the superstar is desperate for a new and improved contract from Real Madrid.

However, it would appear that the club won’t oblige, and may not meet the player’s demands to be paid akin to the sizable wage packages made by Messi and Neymar.

This can potentially be music to the ears of Mourinho. The Portuguese gaffer reportedly intends to wrap up all his transfer deals well before the World Cup commences. However, the report adds that if Ronaldo elects United, he will be willing to wait.

United are desperate for a match-winner to improve the general quality of their games, and in Ronaldo, they will find the best that there is of that breed.

However, it should also be kept in mind that the whole reason Madrid may not be inclined to pamper Ronaldo is that he hasn’t been showing the glimmer he is otherwise renowned for.

The past season saw a lot of games go in vain before he was able to get the usual amount of goals rolling in, and it will be interesting to see whether Mourinho still considers him an apt addition to the squad.
