Manchester United Want Serie A Midfielder, And It’s Not Savic

Manchester United’s transfer business may be off to a rocky start. While the club is still linked with completing a considerable amount of deals prior to the World Cup commencing later this month, the rate at which things are progressing may not be the most desirable by all.
News of Diogo Dalot and Fred being on the verge of completing their transfers is still promising and pretty strong.
But the name that was most linked with the Red Devils is that of Sergej Milinković-Savić. The Serb was heavily targeted by United in the past months.
However, it is being reported that Lazio have increased his asking price quite a bit, with some reports estimating the final fee to be in the range of €150 million. This is a figure that the Mancunian side won’t meet. As a result, a more economical option is on the cards.

M.E.N. report that Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini is the midfielder that United will instead pursue as their replacement for Michael Carrick. The 21-year-old has a release clause of €30 million.

It won’t be an easy bet for the English giants, however, as reigning Serie A champions Juventus are also heavily interested in securing the Italian’s signature, also a result of not being able to pry away Sergej.
To top things off, Roma themselves are not too inclined on parting ways with the talented player, and are said to be offering him a bumper deal incentivizing him to stay on.

But there could be hope for any side that wishes to purchase Pellegrini, as reports also suggest that should Roma fail to convince him, they will instead pursue Atalanta’s Bryan Cristante as a replacement.
It will be crucial to United that they are able to offer a better deal than the Italian sides. Although the purchase of Fred is all but tied down, there is still a major requirement of talent in their midfield.
