WATCH: David De Gea Makes A Rare Mistake In Spain’s Friendly Against Switzerland

David De Gea was the talk of the game as Spain were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland in a friendly on Sunday.

The Manchester United star, who moved to England back in 2011, stands as one of the most consistent players at Old Trafford at the moment.

He has been named the player of the season for the Red Devils on multiple occasions already, and his 18 clean sheets in the recent season gave him his first Golden Glove in the Premier League.

The former Atletico Madrid man has already replaced Iker Casillas as the first choice under the bar for the Spanish national side, but his road to the World Cup did not get off to a great start.

Julen Lopetegui gave the likes of Koke, Iago Aspas, and Cesar Azpilicueta a chance to impress, while Andres Iniesta played his final game for the national side, having retired from the game.

They took an early lead after dominating most of the game through young Real Sociedad man Álvaro Odriozola, who pulled out a superb volley to push the visitors behind.

However, Switzerland managed to pull one back just after the hour mark, but not before an error from none other than David de Gea.

In the absence of German ace Manuel Neuer, the Spaniard has established himself as the best in the game for a while now, but it was his error that allowed Switzerland to get back into the game.

Juventus star Stephan Lichtsteiner unleashed a tame shot from 15 years out with his left foot, on to De Gea’s right, which should have been stopped.

But De Gea only managed to push into the path of the arriving full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, who then had the chance for an easy tap-in, which he accepted gleefully.

Though it did not cost Spain anything, for it was just a friendly, this mistake was the talk of the game on social media after the final whistle.
