Despite what certain headlines may lead one to believe, Manchester United haven’t got their transfer woes sorted out.
While the arrivals of Fred and Diogo Dalot were fresh sights and addressed major issues in the functioning of the side, it is quite obvious that more work needs to be done.
The focus seems to have shifted to the defense after the arrival of Dalot, with it seeming likely that Jose Mourinho may adopt SAF’s method of building a Premier League winning side from the back.
Besides, Mourinho’s own affinity for a defensive style of play makes such a move quite understandable. However, United’s top target for a leader in the heart of their defense may not be who many think it is.

As per MEN, Manchester United’s scouts haven’t made Toby Alderweireld as a ‘100% target’ for the summer, and may be looking at alternatives.

In fact, the same report gives away an alleged shortlist of options that Mourinho is believed to be considering for the coveted spot. They are as follows: Raphael Varane, Jerome Boateng, Kalidou Koulibaly, Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli, Jose Gimenez and Caglar Soyuncu.
