DEAL AGREED: David De Gea To Sign Five-Year Contract
David De Gea has decided to extend his Manchester United stay by agreeing a new contract with the club.
De Gea, considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, won the Premier League Golden Glove with 18 clean sheets last season. The 27-year old has made 300+ appearances for the Red Devils since his £18.9 million from Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid have been chasing the player for the past couple of seasons. In August 2015, he almost moved to the Bernabeu, but the switch failed courtesy of a faulty fax machine. De Gea then signed a new United contract at the end of that bizarre transfer saga.
Los Blancos are once again on the hunt for a new goalkeeper at present. Moreover, new Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui shares a strong friendship with De Gea, which has led to reports suggesting that the Spaniard could be Real’s top target this summer.

However, United boss Jose Mourinho recently made it clear that he wasn’t going to sell any of his star players anytime soon. Moreover, in an interview with El Partidazo de Cope, De Gea himself all but ruled out a departure from Old Trafford.

The custodian was quoted as saying: “I don’t think Florentino Pérez has my number. What I do know is that I’m very happy in Manchester. What I want is to win titles, like every other player.”
And now, with the Spaniard’s current United contract set to expire at the end of next season, the Red Devils have already acted, so as to tie him down with a new one. In fact, as per M.E.N, De Gea has already agreed to sign a new contract with the Reds.
The shot-stopper will sign a new five-year contract once he returns from Russia this summer. This will come as huge blow for Real Madrid, as De Gea would be 32 by the end of the new deal.
