Why Ronaldo Kept Looking Sideways During Portugal’s National Anthem
Cristiano Ronaldo is having an amazing World Cup for Portugal.
The Real Madrid star had scored only 3 goals in the previous three tournaments. But in the opening game of this tournament, he doubled his goal tally by scoring a hattrick against Spain, helping Portugal draw the game 3-3.
On Wednesday, Ronaldo took the pitch as the Seleção faced Morocco in their second group match. But it was strange seeing the former Manchester United man look sideways as his country’s national anthem was played.
The reason is the placement of the country flags. The 33-year old stood at such an angle so that he could view at the Portuguese flag while singing the national anthem.

Ronaldo managed to put his name on the scoresheet against Morocco as well. His 4th-minute header was enough to seal the win for the 2016 Euro champions, knocking their opponents out. It wasn’t an easy game for Portugal as their African counterparts put the pressure on them.
The Real Madrid star broke another record, as he went past Ferenc Puskás on the all-time goalscorer list. The goal meant that Ronaldo (85) has scored the most International goals for a European nation. He is now second on the all-time list, behind Iran’s Ali Daei (109).
