Mourinho Wants United To Sign A World-Class Player Before His Price Increases

Manchester United are a team with a mission going into next season. There is no doubt that there are obvious chinks and flaws in their style that do not let their best talents perform and play the intended way of winning and attacking football.
Jose Mourinho has been particularly keen on trying to mend these flaws, and while the midfield arrival of Fred and the flank-securing purchase of Dalot are big steps in the right direction, a looming issue must be addressed as well.
This is through their lack of a defensive leader at the back. Although the likes of Alderweireld and Boateng were linked with them in the past weeks, both deals have shown some significant doubts.
As a result, Mourinho will instead be looking at another target, and one that could arrive for much cheaper if acted upon immediately.

As per Corriere dello Sport (via Metro), Jose Mourinho has expressly told the higher-ups at Manchester United to sign AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci immediately in a bid to secure their backline.
However, the reason the Portuguese gaffer is urging the club to hurry with their pursuit for the 31-year-old Italian is merely so that they can secure a much cheaper deal.

Milan are on the verge of being slapped with hefty sanctions by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play rules, and as of such, Mourinho wishes to have a deal in place well in advance before an auction raises the player’s price considerably.
The Mancunian giants aren’t alone in their pursuit for the defender, as Manchester City, Chelsea, and PSG are all being reported as eager contenders for his signature as well.
However, it will be interesting to see how the United fans will react to the arrival of yet another aging player at Old Trafford. While a leader is certainly a priority, one does have to ask about the potency of a long-term option too.
