It is no surprise that Manchester United have been frantically chasing Gareth Bale for a while now, only to be thwarted in their efforts for the large part.

Though there have been several other factors involved, it is largely down to Bale’s hesitancy himself that has resulted in the transfer not being worked out as of yet.

But Manchester Evening News are suggesting that positive talks are said to have taken place, and the deal may even be in its advanced stages.

The deal seems to be hush-hush in terms of its exact amount, but one can expect United to have to splash the cash if they’re going to get their man.

The report suggests that the final say lies with Gareth Bale, who is seeking confirmation of a regular starting place in Los Blancos’ lineup after the arrival of new manager Julen Lopetegui. The club was recently rocked by the departure of their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus for £88m just this week, and have their eyes firmly set on an able replacement.

This might be the best time for Manchester United to capitalise on the chaos at Real Madrid, with names such as Kylian Mbappe, Eden Hazard, and Neymar all thrown in to be possible Galacticos before the start of the new season.

These links could mean that Gareth Bale may end up being nothing more than a bystander at a club that paid nearly £100m to prise him away from Tottenham Hotspur.

Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward are both very keen on bringing the Welshman back to English football with a new challenge, but have also focused on reinforcing the defensive line, which has seen the club get linked with several star defenders as part of a squad overhaul this summer.

It remains to be seen whether the Bale deal pulls through or not, but the signs sure look promising.
