Manchester United Planning A £92m Swoop For Two Croatian Players

Manchester United have been the talk of transfer town this summer, but they have been largely thwarted in their efforts of signing world-class players wanted by their manager Jose Mourinho in the past.

Though the Red Devils have secured the signings of Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot, and Fred already, they lack the big names that will bring more attention to the club and bolster the team’s hopes of winning the Premier League title again.

But they aren’t about to give up any time soon. The Sun are among several media outlets reporting today that the club is interested in signing Croatian duo Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic for a combined fee of £92 million.

The pair had an outstanding World Cup campaign, and Rebic, in particular, has since caught the eyes of several possible suitors.

But he won’t come cheap. The current Eintracht Frankfurt player is valued at £44m by his club, and has a choice in where he wants to end up. With the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign him, it will be interesting to see where the talented winger decides to move.

Along with Rebic, Ivan Perisic is another Croatian who had a scintillating run in the recently concluded World Cup, and may well have been a Manchester United player back in 2015, when he was initially pursued by the club.

The Internazionale winger eventually stayed on in Italy due to his parent club playing hardball, but he hasn’t gone off the United radar just yet.

The English club may be preparing to pay £48m to sign him from Inter and close the deal before the start of the new season. But the Reds will be well aware that at 29 years of age, the Croat may have left his best years behind him.

Perhaps that is the reason the club wants to sign him and Rebic together, with the latter fairly younger at just 24 years of age.
