Brilliant Reason Why Luke Shaw Is Not Signing A New Contract Now
Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has gone on to state that he wants to earn a new deal and show his capabilities.
The England international is currently in USA, preparing at United’s pre-season tour. The former Southampton player came under severe criticism in the last two seasons, and he never quite got it going under the Portuguese manager.
With Ashley Young in the mix, Shaw knows he has to fight for a berth when the season starts next month.
But for now, the priority for Shaw is to earn a contract, rather than signing a new deal just so that United can cash in on him and avoid losing him as a free agent next term.

“I don’t think I would want to sign a contract right now. I want to prove to people that I deserve a contract. I don’t want one because maybe in the next year or so I’m a free agent, so maybe they might look to tie me down for that,” Shaw stated (via Metro).

Shaw added that he feels confident after speaking to the club officials, and believes that he deserves an extension.
“I want to sign a contract because I deserve it and the club want me to sign one. I’ve spoken with them and I’ve spoken with the manager. I’ve had discussions and meetings. I know they believe in me,” said the full-back.

The Englishman is also adamant to get into the starting XI, play regularly, and keep his spot: “I’m going to fight for it this year and I want to be in that starting XI.”
Shaw made just 19 appearances last season, and has played a total of 66 times in 4 years for the Red Devils.
