Manchester United‘s poor run in their pre-season tour of the USA continued, as they were hammered 4-1 by Liverpool. This, in turn, has added to the misery of Jose Mourinho, who is desperate to get hold of two new signings.

United have purchased three players so far this summer, with only Brazil’s Fred coming in as a big signing to replace Michael Carrick in midfield.

Jose wants a central defender and an attacker, and he recently stated that if not two, then he would need at least one player – a defender.

The Portuguese has shortlisted 5 central defenders, and submitted the same to the hierarchy and with less than two weeks for the window to shut down, Jose is looking frustrated at the moment.

Perhaps the defeat against Liverpool has now given Jose the example to show his board that things need to be sorted quickly.

Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld top the list of targets, whereas Mourinho continues his search for a strong winger.
