Manchester United‘s Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set to go to Germany and ply his trade in the Bundesliga on a season-long loan deal.

The versatile defender impressed last season after turning out for Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and is now set to move to Hertha Berlin, reports Sky Germany.

The Red Devils want game-time assurances for the player, and it’s being reported that the German league will provide him with the opportunity.

The Dutchman started 17 games for Palace last term, after managing just 11 appearances across all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign for United.

Fosu-Mensah was expected to provide backup for Antonio Valencia this season, but that won’t be the case. United have refused to let Matteo Darmian leave, and Diogo Dalot has also been brought in this summer, thereby providing further competition for the right-back spot.

Recently, United loaned out goalkeeper Joel Pereira to Portuguese outfit Vitória Setúbal. Jose wanted the player to get maximum game-time, which is why the shot-stopper wasn’t allowed to join Sporting Lisbon.

And now, Fosu Mensah will hope to follow Pereira in similar fashion and get ample minutes and experience under his belt.
