What Paul Pogba Needs To Become The Next Roy Keane
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been backed by club legend Ryan Giggs to maintain consistency with the captaincy role at the club.
Pogba and Jose Mourinho haven’t shared the best of relationships with each other since last season. The Frenchman was criticised by his manager, and was also benched in certain games, including the Champions League encounters against Sevilla.
However, the World Cup-winning midfielder impressed for Manchester United in their opening Premier League game against Leicester City, which led to Jose praising him.
Pogba also went on to open up about his mental state, as he was quoted as saying (via BBC): “If you’re not happy, you cannot give your best. There are things I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ryan Giggs claimed that everyone recognises the quality of Paul Pogba. United’s most capped player of all time also credited the talented midfielder for winning the World Cup with France.
“I think everyone recognises the quality Paul Pogba has and he had an excellent World Cup, so after winning that it was a recognition of what he can bring to the team,” said the Welshman.

Giggs went on to add that although the consistency of Pogba hasn’t been seen as of yet, the responsibility of captaincy will aid him.
“From the outside he looks like a leader but what we haven’t seen is the consistency of the likes of Bryan Robson and Roy Keane, so that extra responsibility will hopefully help him maintain his levels,” Giggs added.
Meanwhile, Mourinho confirmed that Pogba will captain the side in their weekend’s Premier League match against Brighton.
